NEXT is a 2-Year Initiative

  • What's our goal?

    We want everyone who calls The refinery Christian Church home to commit to engaging in a new level of sacrificial generosity to raise $7.5 Million over the NEXT two years. Our goal is 100% engagement.

  • Why are we doing this?

    The community around us is exploding with growth and we have reached capacity for both adults and kids during the optimal times to invite others.

  • How does it work?

    NEXT is a One Fund Inititative that will last for two years.  Your generous commitment of tithes and offerings will fund our annual operating budget for the ongoing ministry of The Reifnery Christian Chruch AND help us prepare for what's NEXT.

From the very beginning...

our prayer has been that God would position The Refinery Christian Church to shine the light of Jesus to those around us. We dreamed of being a church that would draw people from all walks of life becoming the epicenter of all that God is doing in the valley.


As the West Valley continues to grow and change around us, we are determined to be ready-ready to meet the needs of the NEXT generation, ready to expand our capacity for reaching the lost, and ready to be a place where people can experience Jesus in new, life-changing ways, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey.


This is why launched the NEXT Initiative - a bold step forward to expand our church, our influence, and our impact for the NEXT generation. It's about continuing to grow and serve our community as we prepare to build for what's coming, for what God is about to do, and for all the lives He is preparing to change.


Together, we will make room for the many who are waiting to find hope, healing, and purpose in the love of Jesus.

NEXT is a Multi-Phase Initiative

  • PHASE 1 - First Fruits - Sydney, Australia

    At The Refinery Christian Church, we are committed to honoring God by expanding ministry outside our walls. As a church we want to model generosity by giving above and beyond the biblical tithe (10%). That's why we're dedicating the first 15% of what is given during the Big Give on March 2nd to support the planting of The Refinery Christian Church Sydney with Pastor Gavin Wilson and his family.

  • PHASE 2: Infrastructure

    Your generosity will help us enter Phase 2: Planning and preparing to expand our campus. This includes building a new Worship Center, expanding outdoor spaces, and converting our current building into a dedicated space for the Next Generation. Before construction begins, we need to cover essential behind-the-scenes costs like design, engineering, and permits.

  • PHASE 3: Financing & Construction

    We are honored to have had the opportunity to partner with The Solomon Foundation for the purchase of our property and current facility. Our continued partnership will enable us to better serve our community with a new Worship Center, featuring a 1,000-seat auditorium, as well as indoor/outdoor spaces for meetings, groups, counseling, and social gatherings.

  • PHASE 4: Campus Expansion

    After moving into our new Worship Center, Phase 4 will focus on expanding and redesigning our current building to create a dynamic, engaging space for our Next Gen Ministry, from birth to high school.

NEXT is a One Fund Initiative

During the course of the NEXT Initiative March 2025 - March 2027, all gifts given to The Refinery Christian Church will be applied to a One Fund (unless otherwise designated). This allows for The Refinery to continue to meet the budgeted needs of the ministry of The Refinery Christian Church, the local community and our ministry partners while helping us prepare for campus expansion and building renovations.

FAQs:

  • What's the difference between tithes and offerings?

    Before the establishment of Old Testament Law, God initiated the practice of the tithe. Returning a tithe - or 10% - of the first fruits of our gross income back to God by supporting the work of the local church. In doing this, we honor God in trusting Him with our first and best gift. Anything above and beyond the tithe is an act of generosity - an offering from the overflowing of the heart.

  • What's a One Fund?

    A One Fund is another way to say General Fund. During a giving initiative like NEXT, the funds are used to meet budgeted ministry expenses both inside and outside the church, AND for any initial planning and design expenses to get the ball rolling for the campus expansion and renovation.


  • Can I still give to the Missions Endowment?

    Yes! As you consider what God would have you declare as your 2-year commitment to the NEXT Initiative, it is our prayer that you will be inspired to trust God in all areas of your life, including your finances. If you should also wish to make additional offerings towards the Missions Endowment Fund, PRAISE GOD!

  • Where can I get a Commitment Card?

    Commitment Cards are available in person at The Refinery Christian Church or you can view one HERE.

  • I didn't turn in a commitment card; can I still give?

    Yes! All gifts received during the 2-Year NEXT Initative from March 2025 - March 2027 will be used to meet budgeted ministry needs both inside and oustside the church, AND for any initial inftrastructural expenses to get the ball rolling for the campus expansion and renovation.


    The process of praying for and declaring a commitment is designed to help you: 

    • Plan and budget
    • Feel a sense of partnership with others who have commited
    • Feel a sense of accountability to God
    • Praise and worship God for His provision

    Commitments also help The Refinery to plan and prepare for what's NEXT, trusting God with the fulfillment of each commitment.

  • When will we start seeing some progress?

    NEXT is a Mulit-Phase Initiative which has specific milestone moments that will be shared and celebrated, starting with the First Fruits plan to launch a Refinery Ministry in Sydney, Australia!  


    The planning and design phase of the current site plan will likely take a minimum 12 months, but updates on that process will also be shared.  

  • What do you mean by "stored resources?"

    This is a reference to the areas or finances in our life that may not be part of our monthly budget. Maybe you have a savings account, stocks or other investments that you’ve been saving for a special purpose. 


    Do you have an extra vehicle or a boat that you haven’t used in some time? These are resources that can be used toward your commitment of generosity to NEXT.  

  • When do I turn in my Commitment Card?

    We will invite everyone - including those who have made an Advanced Commitment - to make a Commitment on Sunday, February 16 during one of our regularly scheduled Sunday services.


    Giving towards the NEXT Initiative will begin on Sunday, March 2 - Big Give Sunday. This is the Sunday that we ask those who are giving an offering from stored resources to make that BIG GIFT to get things rolling. 15% of all gifts given on that day will be used to launch our first off-site campus in Sydney, Australia.


  • Can I give a lump-sum gift?

    Absolutely! If God is calling you to make a one-time gift to fullfill your commitment for the NEXT Initiative, or to kick off the initiative with a BANG, you are more than welcome to.


    As with any amount or frequency of giving, we ask that you prayerfully consider giving at the level that God has asked you to trust Him; whether that's by giving a tithe (10%) for the first time or going above and beyond the tithe with an offering which is an overflowing of the heart in sacrificial generosity.

  • Can I donate stocks, real estate, or other property?

    Yes, you can! Gifts of this nature require special handling on a case-by-case basis.
